Jackson County Health Goals:

¨ Assess the health status of the community

¨ Develop appropriate public health policies

¨ Assure necessary services are delivered in the community

“Public Health” is the art and science of safeguarding and improving community health through an organized community effort involving prevention of disease, control of communicable disease, application of sanitary measures, health education and monitoring of environmental hazards. 

Jackson County Health Department will maintain and improve the health of community residents through:

¨ Accessibility to early prenatal care

¨ Immunization of  children for vaccine preventable diseases

¨ Investigation of disease outbreaks

¨ Guarantee the safety of small public drinking water systems and onsite waste water systems

¨ Protection of the public from contaminated food and beverages
